Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 01:44PM I want to share some of the stories behind the songs on the album, For The World That Cannot Sleep.

I had almost completed one more time of playing the piano at the airport. It was a different day. I had not talked to any one, no CD sales or tips.
In other words a fishing term came to mind that my dad rarely had to say, "I got skunked".
In finishing the time I felt a little down instead of the usual delight in getting to meet new people and establishing a peaceful atmosphere in a chaotic section.
Then, all of a sudden, a little melody came into my head and heart.
It sounded a little like a Sonatina, and I played a few measures softly and then retrieved my guest book and began writing the notes and counting down.
What a pleasant surprise. Upon returning home I began to play it. What joy came over me. I prayed for the title and an impression came into my heart "Before Long" and I knew it was to be included on the sleep CD.
In fact, I like it so much, I decided to put it first.
Over the year of process of the CD, I have recorded the melody and then play Brahms chords in the background.
It is such a beautiful little song and I am so grateful to the Lord.

I was playing on the ABC concourse at the airport in 2009 and a man approached me with a question. He wanted to to know if he could commission me to write a song for his new granddaughter. I replied I would love to give it a try.
Several themes came to me, but one especially caught my attention. It sounded like her name "Evelyn, Oh Evelyn."
There were words that came to me, but I was between two large moves and going to visit in Costa Rica for a rest, so as of now I do not remember the words, and have not been able to find all the music composed at that time.
The Lord is so good. This is a timeless song for me and I continue to listen as I drive in traffic and hear the gentle beauty of this sweet melody.

We have practice for an ensemble group at church on Saturdays.
As we began to worship, this song came.
It reminded me of a man's journey with a pic and shovel, and climbing a very steep trail, but a happy look as he climbed and surveyed the beauty around him.

My younger song thought he would help me by registering me for a company that screened songs to forward to sound libraries for movies and TV.
I was not sure I wanted my music in movies, but here we go. I was in Costa Rica at the time.
I returned back to the USA, and the listings kept coming every week.
Then, I saw a listing for Lullabies by a European company. I went to a recording studio, recorded the song, and I entered.
This is one of three songs they chose to be forwarded!

We have a lesson sheet on Wednesday for the Pastor's study notes.
I will pick up anything to write on when I get a song or when a melody comes into my head. This was one of those times. It was a good bible study too!

Another time the ensemble continued to play when all of a sudden this beautiful melody came into my heart.
A lady who is a completed Jew wanted us to pray for a baby for her and she was going to name her Aviva.
So here is her song. It is one of my newer favorites.
