I wanted to share with you a story about a happening with the dolphins. It was about 2011, maybe a little bit earlier than that, and I went to visit my son in Costa Rica.
And he had planned something for every day because he was only going to be there a week. And so one of the last days that we did something was having a sea kayak and renting it for the day and going out in the ocean, which turned out to be one of my favorite things to do while I was there.
He's an expert on the water, and I've been on the water ever since I was a little girl. So we got into the kayak, and I was in the front, he was in the back, and began to paddle.
And he wanted to go around where there was like a cave that you went through. And so we did that.
It was really cool. The waves were pushing us against the wall of the cave. But it wasn't banging. It was just a little bit of a wave, and then it just started to move away from us and then it just kept going back and forth until we got to the end of the cave.
And he goes, I bet this is really an adrenaline rush for you. And it wasn't even moving at all because he had been there for like three or four hours before he got here.
And it wasn't actually... I felt really peaceful because I knew that he knew what he was doing. And I love the beach and the ocean and the water anyway so coming back out we were about oh probably a hundred yards going out in the ocean from the cave and my son said look there's some dolphins.
Pray for them to come closer! So we went to the beach pray and asked the Lord to bring them and I said well I'm not going to go with you. And he said, no, you're not going to go with me? I said no, I'm not going to pray. I think actually I was scared.
And I said if you want them to come you pray.
So he did and they started swimming towards us. And pretty soon they were right by the kayak and they were swimming around and they were jumping and I actually was terrified.
I mean my son said they are our friends mom use your use your puppy voice. And so I went hiiii! the same creator that created you is the one that created us.
And then we got to this point where we had a little bit of a fight with our dog. And oh they like the puppy voice. And then they were doing more maneuvers and stuff. So it was just kind of like, hey, let's do this together and see what happens next.
And I mean it was scary to me. I don't know why I thought what if something goes wrong and they bump up underneath the kayak and dump us over. Well we had life jackets on.
I don't know why I was scared but I was instead of just enjoying the moment. And then I began to relax and really enjoy their playfulness and watch them as they swim around. And they probably did that for 15 or 20 minutes.
And then all of a sudden they dove down really deep and they came back up again, like the first time I saw them, like the first time I saw them in my life.
So it was just a really good experience for me to see how they were doing with their flukes, their tails, and in perfect synchronization, they waved their flukes at us.
There were three of them. They waved, in just perfect synchronization. And then they swam.
We never saw them again. And I thought, that is probably one of the most exciting happenings that's ever happened in my life. There's no way you could orchestrate that.
We were out in the ocean. God did that to show us how to do it, and we were able to do it. He loved us, and how much he loves his creation. Just so we could enjoy something and have a memory that was incredible to me.
He is the one that gives us, as we delight in him, he gives us the desires of our heart. He delights in bringing joy to our hearts. He loves to do that because he loves us so much.
Your creation gives you all praise. May the Lord be so glorified in all of this.
